We have been selling Samsung for the pass 4years. However, this is the first time we are featuring Samsung SMART door lock in our Blog. As we are very excited to announce the latest Digital Deadbolt.

Samsung SHS 3320 had won the very prestigious iF product design award for 2012, so for those design savvy readers, you know what this means.

The sleek body of this Digital lock has a chrome trim with a black gloss touch pad, very much like the other Samsung phones.
Like every Digital locks, it has standard features like
Pin access, RFID card access, RFID Tag access and even a Mechanical Key Overwrite all packed in to this device.



The Overwrite keys are high security with anti-bumping and side bar-marked
[like Honda car keys]

Unlike Yale, Samsung requires 2 additional random pin before entering Access Code. Thus making it impossible to guess the Access code.

To further enhance security, this is able to program Administrator pin, Multi-user individual pin and even Double authentication.

If you are using a Samsung Intercom Video Phone,
you may integrate them to enable unlocking.

KLEIS : Sinn by Hannes Wettstein

The second feature of premium handle maker Kleis will feature the late Hannes Wettstein 1958-2008

A little bit about Hannes Wettstein, he's was one of the most innovative and influential designers in Switzerland. His background alone did not follow a standard pattern: born in 1958, Wettstein completed an apprenticeship as a structural engineering draughtsman and then trained himself as a designer and architect. He was fascinated by technological developments as well as art history and architecture; and somewhat alchemical and ingenious, his unique way of developing ideas never disappeared. In his own words, he questioned all norms, social, industrial, cultural and ritual, in order to discover something new. This absoluteness was not an attitude but a methodology. His willingness to always rethink everything determined by design - everyday actions, organization of rooms, the purpose of things - led him to create surprisingly simple solutions that outlasted time. Technology transfer from design-resistant fields, years of scientific work on an idea or a material and a fine sense of brand quality - Hannes Wettstein shaped a world in which he sought to comprehend the essence of things that surrounded him.

Pure, unspectacular, functional design was the stamp of his lights and furniture. Again and again he returned to sleek forms and classic modern lines. These suited his vision of the world and society in that, even before his time, he knew that only self-evident design can be endurable. Hannes Wettstein designed elegant and perfect objects for daily use that maintained their identity and remained timeless even in the changing flow of fashion.

Also in room design he created archetypes: complete and sensitive solutions for specific locations, interior fittings or set designs. The comprehensive way in which he helped designed the world lives on today in the company he founded in 1991, Studio Hannes Wettstein.

Studio Hannes Wettstein had worked with many companies from furniture and lighting manufacturers, to electronics or watches and even hotels & airports. They had work with popular brands like Bosch, Braun, Carl Zeiss, Sony, Tumi, Ventura Watches, Grand Hyatt hotel just to name a few.

Our first impression of "Sinn" looks like a pair of horns, and coincidentally reminding us of the devil. Very fierce design indeed.

Grazia Italia for Shrek Castle in Universal Studio Sentosa

Its been almost 2 years since we supplied this handles, due to confidential reason we are not to reveal before the opening in late 2010.

When approach by the contractors, we were to submit a few designs. At first, used our current Spanish selection of BRONCES MESTRE Art. 3650 Linea Mailand. We had then spray paint in matte black and is was accepted as the internal.

However for the external, the designers wanted something less elaborate and more robust. There were no such handles in our city and the only way is to customized. 

We approach handle manufacture Grazia Italia for their technical specialty and their engineers sketched the flatten design for such. We went through many rounds of redesign, improving fittings and durability. This is the final product!

The design was then set for production and the installed handles are impressive. Thou, such handles will seldom work with our modern interiors, but this is really an interesting project for us.

KLEIS : Apriti & Sesamo by Philippe Starck

This year marks the 20th anniversary for Philippe Starck with Italian handle maker KLEIS Design.

The Kleis brand name came into being in 1991, stemming from the experience and technology acquired in the RDS company’s research and development centre. RDS was originally established  in 1945, specialising in the production of handles and home-furnishings in general. In a pure Bauhaus spirit, Kleis’s objective is that of challenging established designers to work on such apparently banal objects/functions as handles. Enrico Baleri and Claudio Caramel are the coordinators of the project, while Philippe Starck, Hannes Wettstein, Flavio Albanese and Riccardo Dalisi are responsible for the first designs characterised by technological innovation and the use of new or rediscovered materials such as polycarbonate or glass, stainless steel and polyurethane resins. The continuity of the brand is confirmed by the appointment of Enrico Baleri/eb&c as art director. The focus of the Kleis project is design: research interpreted through diverse idioms and enriching the symbolic role of the object, proposing the handle as a non-invasive envoy of avant-garde design.
 

In the design circuit, S+ARCK is definitely one of the most heard names. Establish as a Architect and also well know in product designs, especially daring and mostly iconic. From the Iconic architectures like Tokyo Asahi beer hall 1999 to Chairs, lamps, watches & almost anything else, he's done it. The S+ARCK name is very sort after for its iconic designs and thus earning him the reputation. 

Asahi Beer Hall, Tokyo

Born in Paris, 1949, designer and architect. Among the world’s most sought-after product
designers for his originality and prolificacy, he has also been working with architectural planning
in more recent years. In 1968 he founded Quasar, a company that produced inflatable objects.
From 1971-72 he was artistic director of Pierre Cardin; in 1979 he opened a design studio at Monfort l’Amaury. He also created his own manufacturing company.

He made headlines when François Mitterand commissioned him to redecorate the interiors of the
Elysée Palace in 1984. Designer of numerous chic clubs in Paris, New York and Tokyo, he is the winner of important prizes such as the Grand Prix National de la Création Industrielle (1988)
and the Honor Award of the American Institute of Architetcts, 1992, for the Paramount Hotel in New York. In addition to being an active teacher,he works in every aspect of the design field, collaborating with world’s most prestigious firms in the creation of furniture, consumer goods and even vehicles.

Renaissance 旧欢心爱 Episode 7 : Minimalist

Summary: 3 bedroom flat in Bukit Merah gone for its make over. From a cramp & cluttered to stream line minimalist. How they do it? Other than throwing away all the stuff toys and unwanted barang-barang?

Answer : Uniformity.

When we talk about minimalism, Interior designers are obsessed with tiles, paint, laminates & fabric samples because to they want to avoid “too much going on” look. Having a large mixtures of random colors or texture makes the space look untidy.

This episode truly shows what we are known for. We seamlessly incorporate our doors into the interior, matching our doors with the furniture. The rare perfection in matchy-matchy even gave our host goosebumps.

Also in this episode, Bryan had created this wall installation by reusing waste wood planks. These planks are actually raw materials leftovers from doors. We prepared them in 3 different thickness, cut into squares and ready to be used as wall tiles! Being Green & looking good is made so easy.

Since door is right beside the TV console, we found the closest match to it and the result is really decent. In the photo, the door appear darker because TV console is mounted 3 inches in front of the wall while door is 2 inches behind the wall.

It has been quite an experience for us to part-take in Channel 8 旧欢心爱 Renaissance. Hosted by Bryan Wong 王禄江, Unlike any other home makeover program, this, we felt that there was a real need to help some of these families. Every furniture has a story to tell - Years later, when the furniture becomes the treasured memory of the past, would you bear to discard it?
Discarding old furniture that does not fit with your interiors of your home is not the only option. Going green and yet maintaining the precious memory is possible with some ingenuity. In this new programme Renaissance, Bryan Wong works together with a family and creatively injects new life into old, worn-out furniture so that it not only looks modern, but retains fond memories as well.
Each week, a family will be selected and Bryan will pay them a visit to their home. After Bryan familiarizes himself with the situation, he gets the keys of the house from the owner, thereby being in charge of the revamping. The owners will then stay away from their houses while Bryan embarks on his project, and will only return after all works have been completed, seeing a new transformation to their home.

grazia italia with design firm collaborates to produce as series of smashing blings handles for a fine whiskey shop in Chijmes. As there are some strict requirements to follow the uniform styles of the rest of the shops, grazia italia is to custom-made exactly to the proportions. 

The result is a glamorous bunch of gold pulls that would sit flawlessly in the ultra-luxe Dolce&Gabanna's GOLD Bistrot in Milan. No doubt Black & Chrome is the color for now, but Gold is always the best choice for the filthy-rich & the fabulous. Browse the images of the D&G Bistrot & you will agree.

Designer Jonas.N had started developing art. no. D090-i of serie sottile² since late 08, while design fundamental are base on replacing most locks. In Singapore context, it is able to replace 4 most common HDB handles and many industrial specifications.
